Metronome Ϟ has been measured to be more accurate than any other metronome app for iOS. Most app store metronomes are derived from Apple sample code included with the iOS SDK. And regretfully, this code fails to account for all the factors that can cause small inaccuracies to build up over time. Metronome, created by a software company that specializes in clock time measurement and regulation, is guaranteed to meet laboratory standards for accurate timekeeping.
The Challenge
The year is 2013 and mobile devices were slowly picking up speed as technology was moving forward and presenting unimaginable opportunities. A client came to me with the task of redesigning a mobile metronome app. After a few exploratory meetings in which I gathered a vast amount of info about the project and the goals, I presented a design direction in the skeumorphic style. My arguments were that musicians would love the resemblance of real hardware music tools in an app. The client was excited about the direction and work began. The challenging part back then was that all graphics were raster.
When we finally lauched the app, it was very well accepted and people were sharing their excitement through reviews in the App Store. After 32,660 reviews, 4.7/5 rating, and 10+ million downloads so far (2025), we can confidently call this little app a success story.
